Neck Lift Surgery

Neck Lift surgery will give you a more defined neck and jaw line and can be combined with a Facelift or liposuction under the chin. During your consultation with Dr. Aharonov in his Beverly Hills office, you will be given an individual assessment of your needs and expectations. Dr. Aharonov is one of Beverly Hills premier Facial Plastic surgeons. He is an expert at improving the signs of facial aging with natural results.

A neck lift requires a small incision to be made under the chin in the skin’s natural crease. The muscles underneath the chin (platysmal bands) spread apart over time. During neck lift surgery, these muscles are tightened and excess fat and skin is removed. In combination with a facelift, a neck lift is effective in helping to restore the jaw line and create a more youthful appearance.

If the patient’s cheeks are not sagging, a neck lift can be performed on its own. Submental (beneath the chin) liposuction can remove excess fat with excellent results. Platysmal bands can be tightened requiring only a small incision under the chin. If loose skin is present, however a combination  facelift and neck lift is likely the best solution. The patient's "double chin" will be gone, leaving only a defined jaw line.

Non Surgical Neck Lift

In the early stages of facial aging, you may be bothered by the appearance of a softened jaw line or the beginning of jowls. Dr. Aharonov is an expert at minimally invasive procedures for as alternatives to surgery. Depending on the individual patient, you may not yet require or want surgery. Well placed facial fillers can help define your jaw line, appear to tighten the skin around the jaw and chin, and eliminate jowls. The NonSurgical Neck Lift is done in our Beverly Hills office quickly and virtually painlessly. You will be able to return to work right after the procedure. This procedure is ideal for our younger Los Angeles area patients who want to maintain their youthful looks without drastic changes. There are two types of non surgical neck lifts: the first involves Botox or Dysport injections into the neck which can help lift the neck and remove some of the neck bands. The second is using filler along the jawline and at the angle of the jaw. This is where a lot of volume is lost as we age, leading to sagging of the neck line. Restoring the volume along the jaw line with fillers or scuptra can help lift the neck and restore the youthful contour of the neck. This also gives a stronger neck line. In men, and some women who may need it, the filler or scuptra can be used to add volume to the jaw to give a stronger jaw that is wider. The extra width can help balance a face with too small a jaw in relation to the cheeks and other facial structures. This is especially useful for women who have very high cheek bones. As those women age, the cheeks might start looking larger and larger in relation to the other features of the face, almost to the point of seeming fake. Filler can be used to add volume to the jaw line and temples to help balance out the cheeks and put the face back into greater harmony.

Chin and Neck Liposuction (Submental Liposuction)

Chin and neck liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure done as an outpatient in our Beverly Hills surgery center. This can be combined with a facelift, neck lift, or done alone to help eliminate a double chin. It is a relatively quick procedure with a brief  recovery period. However, it can make a dramatic difference in your appearance, and is an ideal way to finally eliminate a double chin, despite diet and exercise. A small incision, about the size of a pea, is made in the crease beneath your chin, leaving a virtually invisible scar. When done alone, chin liposuction (submental liposuction) is an affordable procedure with minimal downtime and impressive results for the ideal candidate.

Chin liposuction can be done as an outpatient with local anesthesia and intravenous
sedation administered by a physician anesthesiologist, or can be done under just local anesthesia in the ofice while you are awake. Following surgery, most patients have very little pain, as long acting local anesthetic is given during the procedure. You can return to work within several days after surgery. Initially, you will wear an elastic band under your chin to help minimize swelling, and allow your skin to shrink down to its new more compact contour eliminating a double chin. Bruising may last up to a week, but is variable between patients. Swelling may last a couple of weeks to a month before the final result is seen. There are steps you can take to help minimize the swelling, which Dr. Aharonov will discuss with you during your consultation.
