Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, utilizes a automated handheld device with 12 tiny needles on the tip to create micro injuries to the skin. These micro injuries allow for increased absorption of topical products used during the treatment, and stimulate the body to increase collagen production through the skin’s natural healing process. Microneedling is a perfect treatment for those looking to improve skin tones, texture, pore size, scarring, stretch marks, and fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling is safe for all skin types.
What to expect:
When you arrive for your treatment, you will have a topical numbing cream applied. Once the skin has been numbed, the cream will be removed and the treatment will begin. The microneedling pen will be moved over your face while a serum or platelet rich plasma (PRP) is applied. There is no to minimal pain during the procedure, and takes about 20 minutes for the face. You may have mild redness and warmth to the treated area for a few hours. A series of 3-6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart) is usually most effective.
